The Foundation’s mission is to “…develop and cultivate philanthropic and collaborative relationships that foster programs and services offered through the Hospital which improve the health of the communities it serves.” The PBMC Foundation will be led by its own Board of Directors, comprised of philanthropists and community leaders.

“Through the establishment of this Foundation, we will help to take Peconic Bay Medical Center to the next level in becoming this area’s pre-eminent medical center,” said Jesse R. (Bobby) Goodale III, Chairman of the Foundation Board.

Prominent members of the community, all strong supporters of PBMC and each an accomplished leader in his or her profession and the community, have accepted the challenge as inaugural Board members. They include:

  • Bruce Barnet of Westhampton is president of Barnet Holdings. He is a visionary in land development on Long Island, having developed numerous properties throughout Suffolk and Nassau Counties that make environmental preservation a priority.
  • Kenney Barra is the owner of The Inn at East Wind and East Wind Caterers in Wading River. He has been recognized as the Rocky Point Rotary’s Person of the Year, and as Restaurateur of the Year by the Long Island Chapter of the New York State Restaurant Association.
  • Donald Carey is a vice president of First American Title Insurance Company of New York. He previously worked as an investment banker with JP Morgan Chase and CS First Boston. He began his career at Goldman Sachs as a fixed income trader and underwriter.
  • Babu Easow, M.D. of Quogue is the principal partner in Eastern Suffolk Cardiology and a founding director of MDNY. He will serve as secretary of the PBMC Foundation.
  • Jacqueline M. Entenmann of Riverhead is proprietor of Martha Clara Vineyards and on the Board of Directors of the Long Island Wine Council.
  • Elizabeth Failing of Westhampton Beach is a co-founder of Actmedia Corp., now retired, and a current member of the PBMC Board of Directors.
  • Irwin L. Garsten of Shoreham is president of Apple Honda, a Member Emeritus of the Hospital Board, chairman of the East End Cabinet for the United Way of L.I., and a director of the Greater N.Y. Dealers Association. Mr. Garsten will serve as the vice chairman of the PBMC Foundation and chairman of its Nominating Committee.
  • Jesse R. (Bobby) Goodale III, Ph.D of Riverhead is a principal of Riverhead Building Supply Corp. and twice chairman of the PBMC Board of Directors. Mr. Goodale also serves as a director on the East End Arts Council, the Riverhead Chamber of Commerce and is an officer of the Suffolk County Community College Foundation Board. He has been a long-time hospital supporter and will serve as chairman of the PBMC Foundation.
  • J. Gordon Huszagh is Chief Financial Officer for Suffolk County National Bank. He is also a Vice Chair of Peconic Bay Medical Center’s Board of Directors.
  • Joan Levan of Westhampton Beach is an elected member of the Village Board who previously served as President and CEO of ADG Marketing. She has held executive positions with major department stores and specialty chains.
  • Andrew J. Mitchell, FACHE, Riverhead, is the president and CEO of Peconic Bay Medical Center.
  • Richard Rubenstein, M.D. of Quogue is a pioneer in the field of bariatric surgery, which helps obese people shed life-threatening weight. He serves as director of Peconic Bay Medical Center’s Center for Bariatric Surgery, which has been recognized as a “Center of Excellence.”
  • Joseph Van de Wetering of Calverton, retired from Grumman Aerospace, is on the boards of Ivy Acres, Grumman Memorial Park and the Peconic YMCA, and president of PBMC Board of Directors. He will serve as ex-officio member representing the PBMC Board of Directors.
  • Richard L. Winslow of Aquebogue is chairman of A.G. Burnham Charitable Fund and member of the PBMC Board of Directors. He hosts a weekly show on Access Television and does commercial announcements for both radio and television.

The PBMC's Foundation’s first charge is to secure major gifts in support of Peconic Bay Medical Center’s capital projects. In addition to the capital fundraising, there are many opportunities to support Peconic Bay Medical Center.
