Joint replacement has become an increasingly viable option, and the demand for these types of surgeries is expected to grow as our population continues to age and live longer than ever before. During surgery, the damaged or arthritic joint is replaced with an artificial implant, which is specifically designed to replicate the natural motion of the original joint. In conjunction with rehabilitation and exercise, joint replacement restores functional independence and allows a person to lead a more full and active life. The Peconic Bay Medical Center is pleased to announce the creation of the Hamptons Orthopedic & Rehabilitation Institute™, a comprehensive orthopedic center.
Our multidisciplinary team of rehabilitation specialists – highly trained
orthopedic surgeons, a staff of professional nurses, anesthesiologists,
orthopedic physician assistants, physical and occupational therapists,
dieticians and support staff – focus on a customized treatment plan that
promotes healing and improves overall strength and mobility. “With a growing population on the East End, many of whom are seniors, it is important that the Peconic Bay Medical Health Center be able to provide the services they need,” said Andrew Mitchell, F.A.C.H.E., President and CEO of the Medical Center. “The Hamptons Orthopedic & Rehabilitation Institute™ offers exceptional comprehensive orthopedic services including joint replacement surgery, rehabilitation and therapy,” he added. In fact, Peconic Bay Medical Center’s 65 and over population is projected to grow 3 times faster than the New York State Region as a whole. The Hamptons Orthopedic & Rehabilitation Institute™ at Peconic Bay Medical Center is committed to helping those with orthopedic needs regain functional independence and improve their quality of life. Using the most advanced technology and surgical techniques available, the goal is to get patients back on their feet as quickly and, just as importantly, as safely as possible. The Hamptons Orthopedic & Rehabilitation Institute™ offers a comprehensive
range of services from education to rehabilitation necessary for maximizing
the patient’s full recovery. A key component of the program is patient
and family education. Informed patients recover faster and their hospital
stay is minimized. Armed with knowledge and training, patients feel safer
and more confident when they are released from the hospital to return
home and resume their activities. The continuum of services available once the patient is ready to leave the hospital include the Peconic Bay Medical Center Sub-Acute Care Facility for short-term rehabilitation, Peconic Bay HomeHealth Services for continued medical treatment at home, and the Peconic Bay Medical Center Outpatient Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Center with state-of-the-art equipment and an experienced staff of physical therapists. Dr. Bryan Hanypsiak is the Physician Director of the Peconic Bay Medical Center Outpatient Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Center. |

Our bodies are like machines, and as we age, the joints of our bodies
wear out no matter how much maintenance and repair they receive throughout
our life. Whether the result of disease or injury, joint breakdown limits
mobility and causes debilitating pain.
